We are also to blame

I FINALLY got my driver's license about three weeks ago. Okay, okay, i first learned to drive when i was 17 (shucks! ang tagal na! ), but for so many reasons ( no practice, left the country, got busy with work, permit gets expired), I just finally got my non pro permit this summer. The process is really simple but it took me the whole day because there were so much people applying for all sorts of licenses! Anyway, I just want to share some really weird things inside the LTO, first weird thing was the medical check up. There was NO check up that took place! All they did was to ask general questions, like your height, weight, etc. so, they just got all the info from me and then you're done and pay Php50.00! So, what's the point???, Next while waiting to be called for written exam, you may borrow reviewer. I got to review two reviewers. And so while there, I was familiar with all the questions and answers to the question. but the really strange thing is that all the answers to the questions (meaning of certain signs) were all displayed around the room!!!There were two numbers where the print was blurry, when i asked the person in charge on what the drawing was, she simply just gave me the answer! That was an exam! last part of the exams-the actual road test! We went to the parking space of the office, those applying for a license for motorcycles were first called. Wow! They just had to do one u turn! done. Okay, so our turn now, around five of us was asked to ride an old boxed typed car! I was the first to drive. Guess what! I only went around less than one meter drive!Abante lang! Didn't have to back up or park! No sweat! and then the guy simply said "o ayan okay na! Php60"! I was surprised! and it was obvious in my face . I didn't bring out money right away. One of the applicants who were in the car with me said "okay na yan, pasado ka na" Obviously, the Php60 was not part of the process of fees to be paid! I was hesitant but 4 other people were to be tested. So, I just gave the money. I felt bad that I was not able to assert. After so much preparation to get the license (I re-applied for a student's permit before because i thought I wasn't ready), I didn't think that it was going to be that easy! How can they be so linient on giving licenses! We are talking about security here! I remember talking about acquiring licenses with a German friend. And I was so surprised on how expensive it is for them while she was so shocked that ours would cost less than 10 euros! so there, I guess all i want to say is that we usually complain about the corrupt system...but sometimes it's also because we allow it to happen....we are to blame too....There is just an awful feeling when you know that you allowed your principles to be compromised...LESSON LEARNED.Let us be firm from the simplest rules. We have this bad mentally of doing things because everyone else does. Individual efforst can make big changes. If you're not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem :)
